Make some memories this Easter weekend

Easter can mean different things to different people.
It represents a time of joy for Christians as it is the day commemorating the resurrection of Jesus and the salvation of man.
It also marks the end of the Lenten season, a day when those who gave something up for the 40-day period can once again indulge.
For others, it is something akin to a social event, as they get dressed up in their finest clothes and congregate at the various services offered on Easter Sunday.
But for children, it can be a time of intense memory-building, second perhaps only to Christmas. And although the initial joy may be sparked by visions of chocolate eggs and the Easter Bunny, the memories that will truly stick with them are those created by doing things together as a family.
And while a family gathering with a delicious meal is a great way to start, children can often feel left out when the grown-ups start talking, so make sure you spend some time on activities that center on the children themselves.
One great way to achieve this would be to attend one of the many Easter Egg hunts going on throughout St. John the Baptist Parish today. They are taking place at 11 a.m. at parks throughout the parish.
Just take a look at the ad on page 2A for details. Also, the Easter Bunny will be showing up to a few places throughout the River Parishes today, so check the calendar on page 2B to find a location near you.
And if you can’t make it to one of these events, create your own.
Just remember that the memories you help to create for your child this weekend could last a lifetime, so make them count.
