Joey Maddox of Des Allemands is the author of two books about the 357th Fighter Group of World War II and the founder of the Captain Fletcher E. Adams 357th Fighter Group Museum in his home town of Ida.

His first book, “Bleeding Sky: The Story of Captain Fletcher E. Adams and the 357th Fighter Group,” and his second book, “The Great Rat Race for Europe: Stories of the 357th Fighter Group,” will be the focus of his presentation at the Paradis Branch of the St. Charles Parish Library on Friday, April 13, at 3 p.m. The library is located at 307 Audubon Street, just off U.S. Highway 90 in Paradis.

Maddox will share his knowledge of this legendary World War II Fighter Group known as the Yoxford Boys. Captain Fletcher E. Adams was the leading ace of the group, which also included Gen. Chuck Yeager and Col. Bud Anderson. These men were credited with saving the lives of hundreds of American bomber crewmen through their heroic efforts.
