The Riverside golf team came away with a victory over a local foe Monday afternoon, as the Rebels posted score of 178 to best Destrehan’s 182 in a nine-hole match at Belle Terre.

Sean Flynn led the Rebels with a score of 38 on the back nine at Belle Terre.

Riverside coach Roy Aubert said that but for one rough patch, Flynn’s strong score would have been all the more impressive.

“He was 1 under going into No. 18 and found trouble in a muddy sand trap on the left side of the green,” said Riverside coach Roy Aubert.

“He had difficulty getting out of the trap cleanly and finished the hole with a triple bogey”.

Flynn posted the low round of the match for both teams.

Deuce Wallace posted a score of 43 and Cory Costanza posted a score of 46 for Riverside. Costanza eagled the twelfth hole with a great drive and a fine second shot that landed about three feet below the flag. He’d putt for eagle. Austin Glidden posted a score of 51 to round out the Rebel scoring.

Jason Fogarty led Destrehan He posted a score of 41, followed by Chris Williams’ 45. Brayden Naquin posted a score of 46 and Brent Rome rounded things out with a 50.

The two teams will face off again today at Belle Terre, this time in a three team match that also includes De La Salle.

Tee time is set for 3 p.m.
