Hammond’s Officer of the Year has local ties

Michael Norwood of the Hammond Police Department, son of Lt. Wayne Norwood of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office and retired Lt. Debbie Norwood, was honored as Police Officer of the Year at the 15th annual Police Ball held on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Twelve Oaks, located on the SLU campus. The award was given to Norwood by the Hammond Police Local 345. He is married to Lacey Coumes Norwood and has been with the Hammond Police Department for nine years.
