Hazel Dichary, 95, a loving and caring aunt, departed this life at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at the Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice after a brief illness.

Aunt Hazel, as she was affectionately known, was born in Shreveport on Aug. 2, 1916. She was a longtime resident of Gramercy. For the past six years she was a resident of Lake Sherwood Village in Baton Rouge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel E. Nuckolls Sr. and Daisy Thompson Nuckolls; her brother, Samuel E. Nuckolls Jr.; her sisters, Lucille Nuckolls Cook and Irene Nuckolls Butcher; her beloved husband, Faucheux Dicharry; and her special friend and sister-in-law, Claire Dicharry.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom she dearly loved. Visitation and services were held Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Sacred Heart Church in Gramercy. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Paulina.

Pallbearers were Mike Heltz, Bubby Delatte, Don Melancon, Bill Cook, Greg Zeringue and Riley Boudreaux Jr.

Aunt Hazel was a devoted and faithful member of her church who lived joyfully, prayed faithfully, gave generously and loved unconditionally. She will be missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers her family requests Masses or donations to the Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice, 17732 Highland Road, Suite G Box 241, Baton Rouge, LA 70810, which provided exceptional and loving care to Aunt Hazel and her family.
