RESERVE – After weeks of speculation following his decommitment from St. John’s just before the prep basketball season, Riverside’s Ricardo Gathers has made his decision: he will attend Baylor, officially committing on Monday night.

Gathers, the No. 35 ranked recruit in ESPN’s top 100 national rankings, is in the midst of his senior season with Riverside and looks to become the second player under coach Timmy Byrd to move on to Baylor, the first being Demond “Tweety” Carter, who graduated from Reserve Christian in 2006; the two rank as Byrd’s highest profile recruits.

Baylor is currently the sixth ranked team in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

Gathers is a three-time championship game MVP, a two-time All-State MVP, and was only the second junior to ever be named Louisiana’s Mr. Basketball, an honor he earned last season.
