A faithful and dutiful servant of Jesus Christ every day of her life, Ruby Anes Forbes Truax went to be with her Lord on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012. She was born in Baton Rouge on July 24, 1923.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Diane Truax, with whom she lived with in Norco. She is survived also by another daughter-in-law, Anamaria Truax, of Baton Rouge; and two sisters, Evelyn Forbes Berard, of Opelousas, and Aline Forbes Aguillard, of Greenwell Springs.

Ruby had five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie E. Truax, USMC retired; son, James F. Truax, USMC; and parents, A.D. and Roberta Forbes.

Ruby was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother and grandmother. Although her accomplishments were many and great, rarely did she believe them to be.

She was a registered nurse, retired from Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Ruby was a former resident of Yellville, Ark., where she lived for 30 years, and a member of First Baptist Church of Yellville. Devoted to community service, Ruby served on the Marion County Fair Board and volunteered once a week at the Marion County Food Closet.

She was an accomplished artist of acrylics and watercolor paintings and needlework and could play the dulcimer and autoharp. Ruby was a member of the PALS Art Club and a member of the senior citizens “Good Time Ukulele Band.”

She was an Eastern Star and taught Sunday school most of her adult life. She also served as the Medical Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America.

While stationed with her husband in Hawaii, Ruby was part of a Baptist mission wherein she helped establish one of the first Baptist churches in Kalihi, Honolulu, on the island of Oahu. She loved to travel with her friends from church and the “On the Road Again” gang.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her no matter the length of friendship and remembered in our hearts forever.

Visitation and services were held at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco on Sunday, Jan. 15. A graveside service was celebrated Monday, Jan. 16, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Condolences may be offered online at www.hcalexanderfuneralhome.com
