Who is considered America’s favorite pro athlete? Drew Brees, Eli Manning, Aaron Rogers, Tom Brady? No, believe it or not, Tim Tebow. Why Tim Tebow? Because he dares to be different.

He has never been arrested, suspended or found to be on steroids. He doesn’t use vulgarity and is an excellent role model in today’s world that desperately needs some positive influence.

I’m a Tim Tebow fan and was excited last Sunday when he led the Denver Broncos to a win over the heavily favorite Pittsburgh Steelers. I’m not a Bronco fan. I just admire Tebow’s passion and character on and, most importantly, off the football field. After three defeats going into Sunday’s game with the Steelers, many people laughed and criticized his acknowledgment of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

His boldness in sharing his Christian faith is a testimony to the world. Does it intimidate others? It surely does, because God’s Word says that the darkness hates the light, and Tebow lets his light shine.

After Sunday’s overtime win against the Steelers, he knelt on one knee — a gesture known these days as “Tebowing” — and I’m sure gave thanks to God.

He has stated that God has given Him a platform to share the Good News of salvation. When you are on the platform and speak on religious and social issues, it opens you up for criticism and ridicule, but he handles that well.

It is any wonder that some candidates running for the presidency of the United States of America seek his endorsement? Tim Tebow may never make the Hall of Fame as a professional football player, but his convictions and dedication to God is what attracts people.

This weekend, Tom Brady and the Patriots will most probably beat the Broncos. Tebow’s team may lose the game, but I pray he never loses his passion for Jesus.
