LAPLACE – A Garyville man and a LaPlace man were injured Wednesday after multiple gunshots were fired on a car they were riding in, according to a St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office representative.
Deputies responded to reports of gunshots on Revere Drive just after 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, said Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. As they arrived on the scene, 911 operators received a call from River Parishes Hospital Emergency Room personnel reporting that an 18-year-old Garyville man came in with a single gunshot wound to the back of his neck.
Clement said the gunshot victim, who was identified by family as Moses Frank, was listed in stable condition at River Parishes Hospital but was later transferred to University Hospital in New Orleans, where he was treated and stayed overnight Wednesday.
A 20-year-old LaPlace man and a third unidentified man were with Frank at the hospital. Clement said the 20-year-old suffered cuts to his neck that appeared to be caused by shards of glass. The third man was not injured.
The three men told investigators that they were in a car riding on Revere Drive when someone shot at them multiple times. Frank was in the driver’s seat, and the 20-year-old was a rear passenger. After fleeing the area, they stopped to change drivers and continued on to the hospital.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives at 985-359-8769.
