Count your blessings

I’ve often heard Christians say, “I never pray for myself. I pray for others.” I, too, was one of those people until I read about a man named Jabez in I Chronicles 4, verses 9 and 10. He wanted to

do more for God, so this is what

he prayed. “… Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge

my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” I Chronicles 4: 10

I have prayed that prayer occasionally for the past few years. I’m living proof that God answers prayer. He had abundantly blessed me and all of my family. He has increased the ministry of Get High on Life by adding more supporters and opening more doors through which to minister to a lonely and hurting world. He has guided me with His hand and kept me from evil.

In the past year, I have been asked to speak more often than in any previous year, and the number of family interventions has doubled.

Yes, God’s hand has surely been on His ministry of Get High on Life.

I’m so grateful for all the favor that God has shown me and my immediate family and for our ever-increasing extended family of Get High on Life.

As Get High on Life celebrates 32 years of serving the community, I’ll close with my favorite quote by Dr. James Dobson:

“When I reach the end of my days, a moment or two from now, I must look backward on something more meaningful than the pursuit of houses and land and machines and stocks and bonds. Nor is fame of any lasting benefit. I will consider my earthly existence to have been wasted unless I can recall a loving family, a consistent investment in the lives of people and an earnest attempt to serve the God who made me.”
