Lydia Rhodes Fassbender, 64, went to meet her Lord in Heaven after her long battle with cancer.

She was the daughter of the late Pearl Alice Pevey and the late Leonard Rhodes. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Elliott W. Fassbender, her brother, Albert Rhodes (Bonnie), and her children: William H. Fassbender (Angela), Mary F. Vincent (John), Perri Volz (Greg) and Troy Fassbender (Joyce). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Castay (Warren), and her sister, Jane R. Vidal (Mike).

She was an active member of the River Road Red Hatters and thoroughly enjoyed their numerous outings and the many friendships she formed.

Visitation was held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011. Internment was private.
