From left, Lai’jhon Grover and Matthew Jenkins test the ability of water-absorbing polymers to absorb liquid. Polymer has an amazing reputation for the amount of liquid it can soak up and hold and is often used in disposable diapers. Students used eye droppers to put colored water on the polymer to see how many drops of water the polymer could hold. The gel keeps the water bound and helps keep babies dry until their diapers are changed.
