East St. John Elementary received a request from First Lady Supriya Jindal for students’ artwork to display in the Rotunda of the governor’s mansion. There she displays artwork from students of all ages and from all regions Louisiana.
Jindal has witnessed the joy and pride on the students’ faces as they view their artwork on display for all who visit the mansion.
Sandy Guillot, ESJE art teacher, collected artwork from students in grades 4-6 using a sun theme, making a connection to the state song, “You are My Sunshine.”
Fourth-grader Shawn Dumas and fifth-grader Ka’Brieyl Joseph were selected as the winners. Their artwork will be sent to represent East St. John Elementary and St. John Parish to display at the governor’s mansion.
