LAPLACE – A Reserve man wanted on attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting on Homewood Place in Reserve late last month is in custody, according to a release from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Jermaine Woods, 18, of Homewood Place, turned himself in Tuesday afternoon at the Criminal Investigations Division in LaPlace, said Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. Woods is believed to be one of three men involved in a retaliation shooting that occurred July 19.

Clement said deputies responded to the 300 block of Homewood place at 10:38 p.m. June 19 in response to a 911 call from a man who said he had been shot. The man told investigators he was getting out of his work truck when male suspects approached and started shooting at him. The man ran into his house to call police. Clement said detectives found a bullet hole in the truck and a projectile on the floorboard.

Woods was booked with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property. He is being held at the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace on a $515,000.

Authorities previously arrested Gustavo Shinard, 23, and John Brown, 25, both of Reserve, in connection with the shooting. Both are being held on $515,000 bonds.
