Ovide J. Roussel Jr., 82, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and served as a United States Marine Reserve. He was a resident of the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home, retired from Kaiser Aluminum and a graduate of LSU with a degree in math.
He is survived by his sister, Bernita Roussel Pollet, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ovide J. Roussel Sr. and Armantine Allen Marchand Roussel; brothers, Allen B. Roussel, Clarence Roussel and Murphy Marchand; and sisters, Iola Guidry, Eula Roussel, Myrtle Alleman and Frances Carambat.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, with Fr. Vincent Dufresne officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Mausoleum. Donations may be made in his honor to the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home, 4080 W.
