LAPLACE – A 33-year-old Reserve man suffered a non-penetrating wound after apparently being shot at while driving to work Wednesday morning, according to a release from the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the emergency room at River Parishes Hospital around 6:10 a.m. after a walk-in patient told hospital staff he was shot at in the 100 block of East 27th Street, said Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
Clement said the victim suffered a superficial wound to the right side of his face that didn’t appear to be a bullet wound, but investigators have yet to determine what exactly caused it. The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
According to a Sheriff’s Office report, the victim told deputies he had just left his residence on his way to work when a male suspect wearing all black clothing and a black New York baseball cap started shooting at him. The man said he could feel he had been struck with something, so he drove to the hospital.
Clement said investigators observed three bullet holes in the victim’s car on the passenger side. There are no suspects or motive in the shooting.
