Maurice O. Borne, 85, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve. He was a member of the Lutcher VFW Post 5852 and a veteran of the United States Navy in World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vivian Laiche Borne; daughters: Sheila Borne Bourgeois (Bruce) of Lutcher and Joy Borne Melancon Kremer (John) of Gonzales; two granddaughters: Angela Bourgeois Vincent (Christopher) and Ashley Bourgeois Simon (Keith) of Paulina; two great-granddaughters: Kaitlyn Ann and Adley Marie Simon; a future great-granddaughter: Allison Claire Vincent; and a host of nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Octave and Rosa Schexnayder Borne; brothers: Nemour, Noe, Norman, Nolan and Albert Borne; sisters: Celima Millet, Normie Berthelot and Norma Hymel; and son-in-law, James Edgard Melancon Jr.

Services were held on Friday, March 18, 2011, at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Gramercy with Fr. Vincent Dufresne officiating. Military Honors followed at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Paulina. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home, 4080 West Airline Highway Reserve, LA 70084-5712.
