Father and daughter rule over Du Monde

LAPLACE – Stephen P. Flynn and his daughter Megan E. Flynn will share the spotlight as King and Queen du Monde XXXII in the River Parishes’ largest Carnival celebration in LaPlace.
The King and Queen and members of their royal court will be officially presented at the 32nd Krewe du Monde Ball at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner. Krewe du Monde “Celebrates Homecoming” is the theme. The parade rolls through LaPlace on Sunday, March 6, beginning at noon.
Stephen P. Flynn of LaPlace is owner/
manager of Riverlands Surveying Co. L.L.C. Stephen and his wife Donna have been married for 25 years and have three children, Ryan, Megan and Sean. Flynn has been involved with Krewe du Monde since 1985. He served as captain to Krewe du Monde XXV and XXVI. He was a duke in 1996.
Megan E. Flynn, the daughter of Stephen and Donna Flynn, graduated from Ursuline Academy in New Orleans in 2009. She is a sophomore at the University of New Orleans. Megan served as a Maid in Krewe du Monde in 2009.
Pages to the King are Aiden Tiblier, the son of John and Adele Tiblier of New Orleans and Paisley Bourgeois, the daughter of Paul and Aimee Bourgeois of Paulina. The Queen’s Pages are Ian Arnett, the son of Willie and Kelly Arnett of LaPlace and Jace Hoover, the son of Jeremy and Candace Hoover of LaPlace.

Representing LSU
Duke Kyle Smith of New Orleans and Maid Ashleigh Gaudet of LaPlace.
Smith is the owner of Kyle Smith Marine Surveying. He has been a marine surveyor for over twenty years. Being an avid sailor, he has also participated in three America’s Cups.
Gaudet, the daughter of Darla Gaudet and the late Russell Gaudet, is a 2008 graduate of St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace and is currently attending Cosmetology School. She continues the long line of royalty from the Gaudet and Metcalf families.
Representing Florida State
Duke Perry Joseph DiCarlo of LaPlace and Maid Megan Louque of Destrehan.
DiCarlo is currently the principal at Riverside Academy in Reserve. He retired from the St. John the Baptist Parish School System with 20 years of service gaining experience as a teacher, coach, principal and district supervisor. He and his wife Donna have two children: Dominique and Christian. Megan, the daughter of Nolan and Angie Louque of Destrehan, is a senior at St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace. She enjoys softball, shopping and socializing. Also, she has worked summers for V.J. Rollo Security.

Duke William D. O’Regan III of LaPlace and Maid Noelle Hanley of LaPlace.
O’Regan is owner of his own law firm and serves as an Assistant District Attorney to Thomas Daley of the 40th Judicial District. He and his wife Lucy have four children Billy (and wife Sara), Erin, Michael (and wife Kathleen) and Patrick. O’Regan has been practicing law in the River Parishes for nearly forty years. Hanley, the daughter of Michael and Maria Hanley of LaPlace, is a senior at St. Mary’s Dominican High School in New Orleans. She has been active with the Retreat team, Key Club, Pro-Life Club and as past maid of Allovus.
Representing USC
Duke Callen Hotard of Lutcher and Maid Caroline Rose Torres of LaPlace.
Callen, the Chief Executive Officer, and his wife Coleen are the owners of Calco Travel and Hotard Coaches. He and Coleen have two children Cody and Carly. Hotard enjoys sharing time with family and friends by traveling, attending sporting events and drinking fine wines. Torres, the daughter of Eric and JoAnn Torres of LaPlace, is a freshman at River Parishes Community College. Torres, a 2010 graduate of St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace, was an accomplished swimmer for thirteen years at Riverlands Country Club as well as her high school team.
Representing the University of Texas
Duke Albert W. Courcelle III of St. Rose and Maid Ashley Nicole Duhe of Reserve.
Courcelle is a certified public accountant and also the proprietor of the Italian Pie in LaPlace. He has two children Matthew and Allison. Courcelle established his CPA firm in 2007. Duhe’s mother is Cindy Faucheux, the wife of Michael Faucheux, and her father is Leon C. Duhe. As a senior at Riverside Academy in Reserve, she is active in Beta Club, volleyball and softball. Duhe plans to continue her education in the medical field.
Representing Ole Miss
Duke Jude G. Gravois of Vacherie and Maid Holly Poche of Gramercy.
Judge Gravois currently sits on the Louisiana Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal. He and his wife Sonia have two children Joshua “Josh” Gravois (and wife, Colette Boudreaux Gravois) and Abigale “Abby” Gravois Lupo (and husband, Tom Lupo). Poche, the daughter of Todd and Ginger Poche is a sophomore at River Parishes Community College studying elementary education.
Captain Darla Gaudet of LaPlace and Captain’s Man Todd Bourgeois of LaPlace.
Darla Gaudet is Krewe du Monde’s captain and Todd Bourgeois is the Captain’s Man. Gaudet is a career Krewe du Monde veteran including a daughter reigning as a maid in this year’s court and a daughter reigning as last year’s returning queen. Bourgeois and his wife Amanda have two children, Linda Rose and Emma Lily. Bourgeois is the National Business Recruiter for Spacewalk USA in Kenner.
Krewe du Monde was founded by the LaPlace Jaycees in 1974. The current Krewe du Monde activities are run by and for the benefit of the Lion’s Club of LaPlace. The krewe’s parade is the largest in the River Parishes.
