More than three decades of dedicated service

Sylvia A Brady, formerly of LaPlace, retired from Federal Civil Service on Dec. 31, 2010, after 31 years of federal service.

She is the daughter of Sidney and Myrtle Brady. She was born in Reserve and resided with her family in LaPlace until entering LSU and the workforce.

Brady graduated from Leon Godchaux High School in 1962 and Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, with a BA in psychology in 1966. After graduation she spent two years in Japan.

At the time of her retirement Brady was a real property contracting officer for the United States Coast Guard Rescue 21 project at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Brady began her federal career in 1980. She has worked for five federal departments and agencies, including the Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Coast Guard, the departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development and the Internal Revenue Service.

Brady has worked in 45 states and all the territories completing challenging federal real estate assignments. Her most rewarding and challenging jobs included the Corps of Engineers Home–

owners Assistance Program helping distressed homeowners impacted by base realignment and base closure, the Village Creek flood control project helping people move from a dangerous location, and the U.S Coast Guard Rescue 21 project, a state-of-the-art communication system designed to save the lives of distressed mariners. Her federal career concentrated on saving lives and improving the quality of life for citizens of this great country.

Brady’s future endeavors include development of her artistic talents while pursing her appraisal and real estate career, but she has not yet determined her next home base.
