LUTCHER – The High Stakes Tour, “Calling the World’s Bluff,” will take place at Lutcher High School tomorrow evening from 6-8:30 p.m. to promote abstinence in the community.

The High Stakes Tour is designed to educate adolescents and parents about sex and carrying out God’s will through abstinence. It will confront the ideology that “sex is no big deal” and provide an alternative outlook through biblical study and personal discovery, according to tour spokesperson Janene B. Scott. It will also discuss various topics, including love, dating, second chances and the best choices.

The event will also provide entertainment for adolescents through drama and personal testimonies, and it will end with a sermon. Adolescents will also have the opportunity to take their own vows of abstinence.

As part of the event, there will also be classes parents can attend with their children to learn how to communicate with them about sensitive topics and encourage them to practice abstinence.

The King Solomon Baptist Church in Lutcher is sponsoring the High Stakes Tour.

“Our goal is do God’s work,” said Scott.

The church decided to include the High Stakes Tour into their abstinence program after attending the event in other locations.

“We really enjoyed it and wanted to bring it to our community,” said Scott.

She said the church hopes the event will motivate and enlighten adolescents as well as parents and have a positive impact on the community.
