Carla Murphy, a special education teacher at Hurst Middle School recently received National Board Certification as an Exceptional Needs Specialist – Early Childhood through Young Adult. National Board Certification is achieved upon successful completion of a voluntary assessment program designed to recognize effective and accomplished teachers, who meet high standards based on what teachers should know and be able to do. Murphy has been teaching at HMS for seven years.
