DHS teacher of the year

Destrehan High School’s Teacher of the Year is William Plasse. Plasse achieved a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree from the University of New Orleans, as well as taking an educational leadership class at Southeastern Louisiana University. He has been a teacher for 11 years, but this is his 9th year teaching at Destrehan. He currently teaches English I Pre-AP and English III AP.

Some leadership roles he holds include the English Department chair, mentoring student teachers and helping college students succeed. Plasse is also a dedicated member of the choir musical performances, sponsors the Quiz Bowl team and participates in the DHS Relay for Life team.

He not only does work at school but in his community as well. Plasse raises money for the Cancer Society and the 501st.
