Merry Christmas, River Parishes!

The bonfires were lit last night, and Papa Noel found his way through the River Parishes.

And as we wake up this Christmas morning, children are delighted to see what Santa Claus has left for them, and families are gathering for traditional Christmas feasts.

For those of us who believe in the birth of Christ, it is truly a holy holiday. And we need to be sure to reflect on that night long, long ago in Bethlehem and the significance it has to our faith.

Too frequently we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season and fail to spend enough time celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.

For those of you who are non-believers, we hope you will still view the holiday as a time to gather with family and friends and enjoy the spirit of giving associated with it.

As you gather today with family and friends, also be thankful for all that we have and pray for the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who, instead of being at home with loved ones, are overseas serving and protecting the freedoms we enjoy.

God Bless you all.

Merry Christmas.
