METAIRIE – Riverside collected its first two victories of the season Saturday to conclude its play in the St. Martin’s tournament.

The Rebels downed Thomas Jefferson 76-30 and defeated Fisher 50-14 in a pair of lopsided victories.

Against Thomas Jefferson the Rebels ran away in the second quarter, outscoring TJHS 29-8 and establishing a 52-22 halftime lead.

Kristy Milioto scored 15 to lead Riverside. Jermani Thompson scored 13 and Toni Hebert added 11.

Against Fisher, it took just a quarter for Riverside to take full command, leading 20-5 after the first frame. Riverside allowed just two points in the second quarter.

Thompson scored 12 to lead the Rebels. Megan Malik added 10.

For Rebels coach Trenese Smith, it is her first career coaching victories both with the school and at the prep level.

“I was just wondering when it would come,” she said with a laugh. “The more we play, the more we’ll learn about playing with one another and get used to this feeling.”

Smith said that the Rebels shared the ball — 12 players scored in all — and began to loosen up on the floor.

“You have to have fun on the court. You can’t just be serious, be nervous,” she said.
