St. Charles Parish dogs will once again have their day at the second annual Bark at the Bridge Park Festival, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 4, at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling.

The St. Charles Parish Humane Society and Animal Control will present the event, which will feature raffles, adoptions and pet goods and services.

Pet parents are welcome to bring their leashed and vaccinated pets to take portraits with Santa.

Confirmed activities also include a rummage sale, music provided by Johanna’s Dance in Motion Dance Studio and child pony rides by Pony Tales.

In addition, FOX 8 Meteorologist Dawn Brown will host and judge a pet/owner look-a-like contest.

Vendors will include food by Breeze Café, Loving Stitches, Custom Clothing by Jennifer Portune, Derbes Pet Sitting Service, Johanna’s Jazz in Motion Dance Studio (selling luggage, jewelry, purses, etc.), Waggin’ Tails Healthy Products, Walks N’ Wags Dog Grooming, Lisa’s Charms, the Krewe of Muddy Paws, Sensational Scents by Holly Agurcia and fleur de lis canvas paintings by Chrissy Wilcox.

Signed and numbered commemorative Bark at the Bridge Park illustrated posters will also be available for purchase.

The event will also serve as an opportunity for pet owners to get their animals up-to-date on rabies shots for $10 or receive a microchip for $20. Licensed veterinarian Jena Troxler will administer shots. Pet owners who can show proof of their pet’s current rabies vaccine will receive a free bag of Halo pet food.

Animal Shelter staff and the Humane Society are still collecting donations for raffle, as well as monetary donations. Businesses can get their name in front of hundreds of area animal lovers by supporting this charitable event. Those interested may e-mail stcharles.animalcontrol@yahoo.com or call 985-783-5010.

“Those looking to add a new pet to their families this Christmas should also attend to see animals up for adoption,” Animal Control Director Angela Robert said.

All proceeds will support the new animal shelter project and the St. Charles Humane Society, the non-profit organization that handles medical care for St. Charles Parish animals in need and shelter residents.

The West Bank Bridge Park is located at 13825 River Road under the Hale Boggs Bridge. All are encouraged to visit the event’s website for more information at www.barkat
