De’Jonique Garrison was named Miss Clark Atlanta University 2010. Garrison is a senior at Clark Atlanta University, studying mass media arts. Garrison is the daughter of Michael and Shontrece Lathers of LaPlace and a 2007 graduate of East St. John High School.
Garrison participated in a week-long campaign which included speeches, debates, distribution of campaign materials and a pageant. The entire student body was eligible to cast a vote.
As part of her reign, Garrison participated in the coronation, the homecoming parade, and the halftime show during the CAU versus Stillman College football game. Her platform was “Royal Masquerade: Unveiling a Revitalized CAU,” a community service initiative which exposes local middle school children to college campus life. As Miss Clark Atlanta University, Garrison will also participate in programs for the Clark Atlanta University student body which include events such as Your Vote Counts, Pageant Bootcamp 101 and Women’s Self Worth Conferences. This semester will culminate with Garrison participating in the annual Miss Clark Atlanta University Christmas Tree Lighting, which is a staple event at CAU.
