LaPlace man faces multiple charges

LAPLACE – A LaPlace man was booked with an assortment of drug and weapons charges Thursday after St. John the Baptist Parish deputies raided his home.

Corey Colton, 24, was arrested at 11:46 p.m. Thursday after St. John Parish narcotics detectives found assorted drugs and stolen weapons after executing a search warrant at his home in the 2400 block of Virginia Colony Drive, said Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office.

Clement said detectives recovered a stolen handgun, $3,600 worth of marijuana, $600 worth of Ecstasy and other drug paraphernalia from the home, which Colton shared with his wife and two children.

Colton was charged with illegal possession of a stolen firearm, illegal use of a controlled and dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm while in possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession with intent to distribute narcotics. Clement said Colton is being held at the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility on a $131,500 bond.
