Dear Editor,
As you know, Nov. 2 is Election Day and there are many important issues that will be decided on the local and statewide levels. During this election, the voters of St. John will be asked to rededicate an existing 1 percent sales tax to help fund the operation and maintenance of the parish’s water system. I am asking you to join me in voting “yes” on this proposal, which will provide parish government with the necessary funds to further enhance our water system.
The sales tax was first approved by the parish voters in 1985. In 2002, voters gave approval to rededicate these funds to help pay for road and highway improvements. This is not a new tax or a tax increase. It is the rededication of an existing sales tax. Approval of this proposition will allow parish government to make significant improvements to our water system.
I am asking you to support this measure by voting “yes” on Tuesday, Nov. 2. This measure is very important for our community. If you would like to read additional information regarding this tax, please visit the St. John the Baptist Parish’s website at www.sjbparish.com. You may also contact me at robottom@sjbparish.com.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Natalie Robottom
St. John the Bapitst
