A great weekend to celebrate with friends

It is likely going to be hard for anyone to resist the urge to spend some amount of time at the 2010 St. John Parish Andouille festival, which picks up today at 11 a.m. on the grounds of the St. John Civic Center on U.S. 51 in LaPlace.
In addition to the great food, variety of bands, and assortment of other activities, festivalgoers will also have the opportunity to soak up the fantastic fall weather this weekend has in store. Clear skies and mild temperatures are forecast through Saturday and Sunday.
It’s hard to argue with the food selection. The menu for the weekend – which includes chicken and andouille gumbo, andouille pizza, andouille corndogs, boudin balls, jambalaya, hamburgers, po-boys and more – has something for just about everyone.
Then there is the music, which begins when the gates open and doesn’t stop until the end of the night. Sing along to The Top Cats, Charmaine Neville, Mojeaux and much more.
Just $3, or $1 for children under 12, gets you in all day. It is a small price to pay for the amount of entertainment in store this weekend.
Come out and join the community celebration of all things andouille.
