Student Council members from St. Charles Borromeo School in Destrehan recently attended the annual Service Learning Event held at the Pontchartrain Center to accept grant funds from the Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation’s Service Learning Program. While at the presentation, students visited vendor stations with proposal ideas for using grant money. Students were able to practice hanging drywall, see gardening techniques, learn the effects of drunk driving and pet different types of reptiles. St. Charles Borromeo received $5,275 and will use the funds for events at Ormond Nursing Home and feeding the homeless in New Orleans.
