WHITE CASTLE — West St. John fell for the fifth time this season on Thursday, bested by White Castle, 12-25, 18-25, 25-21, 18-25.
Deja Feist had three kills to lead the Rams. Ormoni Favorite had two aces and Jennika Jones had two digs.
West St. John coach Brandon Dumas said he and his Rams adjusted their strategy this week, and despite the loss he saw much to be optimistic about.
“On Wednesday we came in and installed a new defense,” said Dumas. “To improve how we guard the perimeter. It’s definitely helped us out. Overall, there are still a couple of kinks to work out, but that goes with the process. We’ve had one practice with the new defense, so as we go on, we should get better.”
Offensively, Dumas said the Rams (2-5) have become more aggressive. That, coupled with better defensive play, had his team showing results on the floor after a pair of what he felt were lackluster efforts.
“We definitely wanted to go into White Castle and put on a better showing than we had over the last couple of games,” said Dumas. “I know what they are capable of. When they go out with focus, when they play with heart, they can accomplish a lot. But I’m proud of them tonight.”
On Tuesday, the Rams fell to East St. John in three games, 9-25, 17-25, 17-25.
