LAPLACE – A Reserve man wanted in St. John the Baptist Parish since July was booked into the parish jail this week after spending time in the Orleans Parish Prison, according to a spokesman for the St. John Sheriff’s Office.
Tevin Zeno, 19, of 119 Dove St., a suspect in the Aug. 7, 2009, armed robbery of two women in Reserve, was arrested July 13 in New Orleans on unrelated charges, said Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the St. John Sheriff’s Office. Clement said Zeno was transferred to the St. John Parish Jail Wednesday after he was discovered in the Orleans Parish system.
According to Sheriff’s Office reports, Zeno was one of two men involved in the robbery that took place on Terrio Drive. Clement said the victims, both 56, told authorities that as they were getting out of their vehicle two men wearing dark clothing and bandanas approached them. The men, armed with handguns, grabbed the women’s purses and drove away.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, just minutes after the robbery a patrol deputy on Airline Highway near Whitlow Court in LaPlace spotted a vehicle matching a witness description.
When the deputy tried to stop the vehicle, the passenger, later identified as Zeno, jumped out, ran from the scene and jumped a fence.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Tyren Fobb, 21, of LaPlace, was apprehended at the scene by sheriff’s deputies.
women’s purses in the back seat of the car. Authorities issued a warrant for Zeno’s arrest.
Clement said Zeno was charged Wednesday with armed robbery. He was booked into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace and held on a $60,000 bond.
