Destrehan High School junior Mya LaGrange was one of four U.S. citizens who participated in the Global Youth Leaders Conference in New York and Washington, D.C., earlier this month. The conference, which welcomed more than 300 students from across the globe, gives high-achieving students aged 15-18 a greater understanding of their roles as global ambassadors. The students focus on becoming future leaders in the global community by analyzing communications, diplomacy, law, human rights, peace, security and economics. Each session of the conference is designed to educate, inspire and motivate students by giving them the opportunity to explore cultural differences firsthand, absorb diplomatic skills daily, build confidence and enhance decision-making skills in a challenging atmosphere. Mya LaGrange has previously participated in several national leadership conferences, as well as the Presidential Youth Inauguration Conference.
