LAPLACE – A LaPlace man was arrested Monday morning in connection with an armed robbery last week on Ormond Boulevard in LaPlace.
Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, said Carlshane Dennis, 21, of Natchez Lane was picked up on a judicial arrest warrant around 9:25 a.m. Monday morning for an incident on Aug. 2 in the 100 block of Ormond Boulevard.
According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, a 22-year-old man told deputies he was walking toward his home when a black male, later identified as Dennis, approached him.
The report said Dennis allegedly asked the victim for a cigarette, and when he turned to grab one from his pocket, Dennis pulled out a weapon and ordered the victim to hand over his belongings.
Dennis grabbed an unknown amount of cash and ran away. The victim was not injured.
Clement said Dennis was booked into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace on armed robbery charges.
He is being held at the jail in lieu of a $200,000 bond.
