River Parishes Hospital recently named Colin Bailey, MD, a board certified Family Practice Physician, as its Doctor of the Month for the month of July 2010. Bailey was presented with a Doctor of the Month plaque by the hospital’s Chief Financial Officer.

All physicians on staff at River Parishes Hospital are eligible for this recognition. Each month, one physician is selected based on his or her positive attitude, recognized skills as a physician, excellent interactions with patients and staff and willingness to go the “extra mile” to help patients and staff.

Bailey has been on staff at River Parishes Hospital for over 27 years. He previously served as Chief of Medicine on the River Parishes Hospital Medical Executive Committee.

Bailey received his doctor of medicine degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in family practice at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

“Bailey is such a dedicated physician who sincerely cares about the well-being of his patients that he recently made a house call to see a patient and then drove the patient to the hospital’s emergency room,” said Christine Gatlin, RN, MSN, nurse manager of the River Parishes Hospital Medical/Surgical Unit.

Bailey is affiliated with the practices of Andrew St. Martin, Family Practice, and Ben Tegala, Internal Medicine, at the LaPlace Medical Center. Their office is located at 735 W. Fifth St. in LaPlace. Their office phone number is 985-652-9504.

Bailey has been a resident of LaPlace for the past 27 years. He and his wife, Mary, have two daughters, Alexis and Laura.
