Melda Brady Petit, 95, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at St. James Parish Hospital in Lutcher.

She was the wife of the late Claude Alvin Petit Sr. of Hester and mother and mother-in-law of Glenda and Joseph Accardo, Lutcher, Karen and Ewell “Buddy” Poirrier, Lutcher, Dr. Judy Petit, Gramercy, Gerolyn and Perry Roussel Jr., LaPlace, Claude Jr. and Joyce Petit, Lutcher, Dale Petit, Hester, and the late Murphy, Raymond and Wayne Petit. She was grandmother of the late Scott Accardo.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by siblings Antoinette Kling, Rita Madere, Lillian Weber, Marie Poche, Edvidge LeBlanc, Albert Brady, Antoine Brady Sr., Eddie Brady and Eugene Brady Sr.

Visitation was held Thursday, July 22, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Convent from 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. from the church with the Revs. Ed Fuss and Mario Rizzuto officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons and sons-in-law.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of H. C. Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher.
