LAPLACE – A Reserve man was arrested Friday for allegedly shooting his sister’s boyfriend in an argument, according to a release from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Joshua Posey, 29, 352 Homewood Place, was charged with attempted second-degree murder after he allegedly shot a 26-year-old Reserve man in the thigh, said St. John Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Dane Clement. Posey is being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility in LaPlace in lieu of $125,000 bond.
According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, the victim walked into River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace around 10 p.m. Friday with a wound to his right inner thigh. Hospital officials were suspicious and called the Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived at the hospital, the victim told them he was shot at a residence in the 300 block of Homewood Place.
He identified Posey as the shooter and said Posey is his girlfriend’s brother, Clement said.
Clement said detectives learned that Posey and the victim’s girlfriend live together at the residence where the shooting took place.
He said the victim was visiting the home at the time of the shooting.
According to the release, witnesses said the incident began with a verbal argument and eventually turned into a shooting.
Clement said deputies arrested Posey at the home.
The victim was transferred to University Hospital in New Orleans, where he received further treatment.
