RESERVE – Newman was the team of the day Thursday as it bested Riverside Thursday at Belle Terre Country Club, 185-203, in a nine-hole golf match.

Spencer Roy was the low man for Newman, posting a score of 40. Brooks Weaver posted a 47 while Peter Moss and Trevor Thompson scored 49.

For Riverside, Brett Lamonte led the way with a score of 45. Austin Glidden posted a 51 while Cory Andry (53) and Todd Millet (54) rounded out the field for Riverside.

Riverside coach Roy Aubert said that his team must improve its putting for things to turn around.

“Our short game is hurting us right now,” said Aubert. “We’re hitting fairways and greens but our putts aren’t falling in. Hopefully this will bet better before we go to the regional tournament at Oak Knoll.”

ASSUMPTION BESTS REBELS – Assumption’s score of 183 bested Riverside (203) last Wednesday at Belle Terre.

Toby Bouchereau shot 42, his team’s best on the day. Christian Landry shot 46 and Josh Landry shot 47. Milton Daigle posted a score of 48.

For Riverside, Lamonte shot 41 to post the day’s lowest score. Lamonte came up just short of finishing under par — he entered the ninth hole at two under par, but fell prey to a sand trap and triple bogeyed the hole.

Aubert was very pleased with Lamonte’s day.

“Brett hit a lot of greens in regulation and looked at a number of birdie putts. After making birdie on the par five seventh then par on eight, I thought he had a good chance to post a 38.”

Millet (48), Andry (53) and Glidden (61) rounded out the scoring.
