Authorities in St. John Parish arrested an Edgard man Friday evening in connection with a shooting outside a home on Amp Circle that injured a 23-year-old woman, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.

The female victim, whose name was not released, was transported to St. James Parish Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the neck. Her condition is not known.

Capt. Dane Clement, a public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said deputies arrested the victim’s boyfriend, 35-year-old Enoch Kinard, in connection with the shooting, which took place around 2:20 p.m. Friday. Clement said investigators had determined the two were involved in some sort of domestic dispute prior to the shooting.

Kinard, who was booked into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace on charges of aggravated domestic battery and illegal discharge of a firearm, is being held at the jail pending a bond hearing today.
