LAPLACE – River Parishes Hospital held a Young At Art Reception for its winners for the months of Dec. 2008 through Nov. of 2009. Each winner’s picture was on display throughout the reception.
Tammy Waltz, community relations coordinator, welcomed all of the students and their families. “We started this program in 2001 because we wanted to invite the community to visit the hospital on a happy occasion,” said Waltz. “We also wanted to give something back to our community for supporting the hospital over the past 27 years.”
She went on to explain about the program. Each month two classes are featured on the hospital’s Wall of Art. Three winners are then selected to win $50 savings bonds compliments of Capital One Bank. At the end of the year, all monthly winners and their families are invited to a reception at which time three overall winners are selected who receive additional savings bonds.
Each monthly winner was recognized and given an engraved frame to display his or her art work. Then, the overall winners were announced. They are: first place – Lauren Savery, a student at Norco 4-6 Elementary School; second place – Taylor Clear, a student at Albert Cammon Middle School; and third place – Alli Perilloux, a student at St. Charles Borromeo School. They were awarded a $150, $100 and $50 savings bond, respectively.
