Jindal appoints James Mitchell to board of St. James airport

BATON ROUGE – Gov. Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of James Mitchell to the Ascension-St. James Airport and Transportation Authority Board of Commissioners.

Mitchell has been a professor at ITI College since 2001. He is also an Analyzer Engineering Specialist at Dow Chemical Company. Mitchell will serve as a representative from St. James Parish, as required by statute. 

The Ascension-St. James Airport and Transportation Authority Board of Commissioners serves to operate the Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales.

According to statute, the board is comprised of nine gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation. Three residents of St. James Parish are selected from nominations submitted by members of the legislative delegation of St. James Parish and three residents of Ascension Parish are selected from nominations submitted by members of the legislative delegation of Ascension Parish. The remaining three members will serve as at-large members but must reside in either St. James or Ascension parishes.
