LAPLACE – St. John Parish authorities are investigating a report that a 13-year-old LaPlace girl was molested by her mother’s boyfriend, said a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said the girl’s grandfather reported the incident to police just after 4 p.m. Sunday. Clement said investigators are not yet sure of the exact time of the incident, which, according to the grandfather, took place at the girl’s home on Joe Parquet Circle.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, the girl told detectives she was molested while her mother was away from the home. Clement said the girl was taken to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans for an examination. No further information is available on her condition.

Clement said the incident is still under investigation while detectives conduct interviews of the victim and family members.

No arrests have been made.
