Westbank students read with the country

EDGARD – Students at West St. John Elementary School and West St. John High School participated in the Read for the Record Program sponsored by Pearson. This is a national program focusing on literacy in schools.

Various participants throughout the United States read Eric Carle’s classic, “The Hungry Little Caterpillar.” West St. John Elementary students were read to by a member of Detel Wireless Solutions’s staff in Hessmer, through video conferencing.

Brittany Hilaire, a student at West St. John High, is read to a group of fourth-grade students in Baton Rouge, through video conferencing. Video conferencing is a form of telecommunications which allows users to connect with people all over the world throught both sight and sound.
