DICKERSON

J.C. Dickerson, a former resident of LaPlace for 35 years, passed away at his residence in Laurel, Miss., on Oct. 1, 2009. Dickerson was a decorated WWII veteran who earned a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and numerous other citations and awards while serving at both Normandy Beach and the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a retiree from T.L. James Construction Company. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3337 in LaPlace.

Dickerson was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy D. Dickerson, and his parents, Nobe and Barbara Dickerson.

He is survived by daughters Brenda F. Moss and Betty C. Welch of Laurel, Miss., and sons Michael J. Dickerson of Ponchatula and Bobby D. Dickerson of Laurel. Visitation will be held on Oct. 3, 2009, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Oct. 4, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel.
