We salute …

Each Saturday, L’Observateur will recognize individuals and businesses in the River Parishes who have gone “above and beyond” in their efforts to make this a better place to live, work, play and raise a family.

We believe that an integral part of a community’s wellbeing is an attitude and arena where people who do good things … who work to improve life for others … who try to make a difference … are recognized and saluted.

Because this is a salute to members of the community of the entire River Parishes, we solicit your recommendations for groups or individuals to be considered for inclusion.

This week we salute:

• Students at both EAST ST. JOHN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL and ST. CHARLES BORROME on being selected as STUDENTS OF THE MONTH for February.

• QUINTON JOHNSON of East St. John High and TAYLOR TERRIO of Riverside Academy, on being recognized as PREP ATHLETES OF THE WEEK as sponsored by St. John Physical Therapy.

• SHERYLL CAMPBELL, a bus driver for St. John Parish Schools, on being honored for her efforts to keep students in her charge safe after a driver took to a sidewalk to get around the bus. Campbell also got the tag number of the vehicle and reported it to law enforcement officials.
