HAHNVILLE — A single vehicle crash on River Road in Hahnville Thursday claimed the life of a Texas man, said a spokesman for State Police.

Justo Cantu Diaz, 33, of New Braunfels, Texas, was traveling west on River Road near Park Drive in a 2008 Chevrolet pickup when his vehicle suddenly left the roadway to the right, said State Police Troop B Spokesman Joseph Piglia.

Piglia said it appeared that once Diaz left the road, he overcorrected to the left and back to the right, causing his truck to flip over. Piglia said Diaz was ejected from the truck.

Diaz was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which occurred around 1:40 p.m. Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to State Police.

Piglia said speed is not considered a factor in the crash, but it is not known whether driver impairment contributed to the accident. A toxicology report is pending.
