Police seek Reserve shooter

LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John are investigating a shooting in LaPlace early Monday that injured a Reserve man.

Capt. Dane Clement, pubic information officer for the St. John Sheriff’s Office, said the 18-year-old victim, who resides in Reserve, was shot just after midnight while visiting a home in the 1700 block of Creole Street.

According to a report on the incident, the victim had stepped outside to make a phone call when shots were fired. Clement said the victim was struck once in the leg and, upon being hit, ran back into the house.

The victim was transported to River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace for treatment. His condition is not known at this time.

Clement said detectives are not clear on whether the shot came from a moving vehicle or from someone standing in the area. The investigation is ongoing.
