NEW ORLEANS — A Luling man was sentenced in federal court last week for his role in a conspiracy to distribute illegal narcotics from his trailer home, said a spokesman for U.S. Attorney Jim Letten’s office.
U.S. District Judge Kurt Englehardt sentenced Christopher “Stone” Brown, 26, of Luling, to a 20-year prison sentence in court proceedings in New Orleans Wednesday. Brown pleaded guilty in October of last year to one count of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine base and a quantity of cocaine hydrochloride and one count of controlling a residence for the purpose of distributing and storing controlled substances.
According to court documents, special agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration and officers with the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office arrested Brown on May 21, 2008, following an undercover operation where law enforcement officials made controlled purchases of crack from Brown. The agencies were acting on information they had received that said Brown was selling cocaine and crack cocaine from his home in the 800 block of Paul Frederick Street.
Following his arrest, agents searched Brown’s home and recovered over 100 grams of crack and over 100 grams of powdered cocaine, along with marijuana, additional drug paraphernalia and a .9mm handgun. Some of the drugs were discovered in one of the bedrooms of the home, where five adults and seven children were living.
Brown was previously convicted of felony drug charges in state court in September of 2006.
He will serve his time at Angola State Penitentiary.
