Capella named to environmental commission

BATON ROUGE — Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Angela Capella of Montz to the Environmental Education Commission.

Capella is an educator for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and a former recipient of the Louisiana Science Teachers Association’s Informal Educator of the Year award. Capella will serve as the designee of the secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, as required by statute.

The Environmental Education Commission serves to develop and present a plan for environmental education to the governor, the legislature, and the public.

Other appointments to the Environmental Education Commission include:

Alex Appeaning, of Baton Rouge, is the deputy secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality. Appeaning will serve as the designee of the secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality, as required by statute.

Dale Bayard, of Sulphur, represents the 7th Board of Elementary and Secondary Education District. Bayard will serve as a representative of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, as required by statute.

David Boldt, of Baton Rouge, is employed with the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service at Louisiana State University. Boldt will serve as the designee of the chancellor of the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, as required by statute.

Lou Buatt, of Baton Rouge, is the assistant secretary of the Office of Coastal Restoration and Management within the Department of Natural Resources. Buatt will serve as the designee of the secretary of the Department of Natural Resources, as required by statute.

Wade Dubea, of St. Francisville, is the state’s forester within the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. Dubea will serve as the designee of the Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, as required by statute.

Sonny Eirich, Jr., of Slidell, is a veteran of the United States Navy and the president and owner of North Star Agency, a personal and commercial insurance company. Eirich will serve as a member of the industrial community, as required by statute.

Alan Levine, of Baton Rouge, is the secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals. Levine will serve as an ex-officio member, as required by statute.

Paul Pastorek, of River Ridge, is the state superintendent of education. Pastorek will serve as an ex-officio member, as required by statute.

Aimee Robert, of Baton Rouge, is an environmental interpretive specialist with the Office of State Parks. Robert will serve as the designee of the secretary of the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, as required by statute.

Wayne Sagrera, of Abbeville, is the president of Vermilion Gator Farm, Inc., an alligator farm, and is a member of the Louisiana Alligator Farmers and Ranchers Association. Sagrera will serve as a member of the industrial community, as required by statute.

Stuart Shaw, of Coushatta, is the clerk of court for Red River Parish. Shaw will serve as a representative of local governments, as required by statute.

Jeff Simmons, of Bastrop, is the owner of Simmons Sporting Goods. Simmons will serve as a representative of the small business community, as required by statute.

Joseph Wiley, of Prairieville, represents the 3rd Congressional District on the Board of Regents. Wiley will serve as a representative of the Board of Regents, as required by statute.

Leodrey Williams, of Baton Rouge, is the chancellor of the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center. Williams will serve as an ex-officio member, as required by statute.
