HAHNVILLE – Authorities in St. Charles said a routine traffic stop along West Harding Street in New Sarpy netted a man wanted in connection with the burglary of a Destrehan convenience store.

Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, public information officer for the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office, said deputies arrested Jamon L. Miller, 27, 730 East Harding St., on Monday for burglarizing the Valero Corner Market, located at 12609 Airline Drive in Destrehan. LaGrange said Miller was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by deputies for an unrelated traffic violation.

According to a report on the burglary, which occurred around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Miller allegedly threw a rock at the front doors of the store and broke the glass out with a broomstick.

Miller then proceeded to enter the store and remove several liquor bottles from behind the sales counter, before fleeing the scene.

LaGrange said investigators were able to identify Miller as the perpetrator through video surveillance at the convenience store. He said the lifted liquor has yet to be recovered.

Miller was booked into the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility in Killona. His bond was not available.
